How to Talk to Your Pediatrician About BLW with @pedsdoctalk Mona Amin, DO

    26.02.2026 | 31 Min.
#96: What if my doctor isn’t on board with baby-led weaning? How do I talk to my pediatrician about baby-led weaning? Help! My doctor said baby-led weaning isn’t safe or it doesn’t work!! If you’ve dealt with or wondered about any of these scenarios, fear not because pediatrician Mona Amin is here to help you sort things out!

In this episode Dr. Amin is sharing some practical tips for talking about baby-led weaning with your doctor. If you’re worried about choking or how to introduce allergenic foods safely to your baby, she’ll coach you through the important talking points to have these important discussions with your doctor.

As a BLW mom herself plus a practicing pediatrician, Dr. Amin is the face behind the wildly popular instagram account @pedsdoctalk and host of The Peds Doc Talk podcast. In this interview she’s sharing her own baby-led weaning story about her son Ryaan as well as advice on how to talk to family members and practitioners who may not be totally on board with baby-led weaning (yet!)

Listen to this episode to learn:

    1.  What to do if your pediatrician does not support your choice to do baby-led weaning...including how to talk about important issues like iron levels, growth faltering and nutrient gaps (all of which your baby is NOT at risk for if you do BLW!)

    2. Why she decided to make the switch from traditional spoon-feeding of purees to baby-led weaning with her son Ryaan...and how her own family wasn’t entirely on board at first (but they eventually came to love BLW and now brag about how well Ryaan eats!)

    3. How to talk to your doctor about baby-led weaning even if you’re not super confident in your own decision to do self-feeding

Reintroducing Familiar Foods Back on Your Baby's Plate

    18.02.2026 | 18 Min.
#93 When your baby is trying one new food per day is that the only food the baby eats? It could be but you can also reintroduce familiar foods from previous days. This helps your baby see foods he or she has already tried early and often.

In this episode I’m sharing some easy ways you can reintroduce foods your baby has already tried back into the diet. Yes you can continue to try new foods while also continuing to expose your baby to foods he or she has previously tried!

Listen to this episode to learn:

    1. When you’re introducing allergenic foods, the key is to do it early and often. This helps lower food allergy risk down the road.

    2. If you’re introducing 1 new food per day, you can spend the first 10 minutes of a 20 minute meal letting the baby explore the new food on its own.

    3. For the 2nd 10 minutes of the meal try to swap in a plate with 3 foods on it: 1 new food from that day with 2 familiar foods from previous days.

How to Choose a Safe Seat for Your Baby to Eat with Kirsti Vandraas

    12.02.2026 | 35 Min.
#92: Ever wonder why some high chairs seem to “work” for starting solid foods while others leave your baby slumped, feet dangling, and frustrated? In this episode, I’m joined by physiotherapist and ergonomist Kirsti Vandraas to break down what a safe, supportive baby seat should actually do.

We cover the key features that matter most for independent eating—like a stable base, an adjustable footrest, and a setup that lets your baby move their arms freely. Kirsti also explains why high chair designs and safety standards can vary between countries, and what parents can do to create a safer, more comfortable eating setup at home.

Listen to this episode to learn:

    1. Why high chair expectations differ in the U.S. vs. Europe, and how that shapes designs that bring your baby right up to the table for family meals (often without a tray).

    2. How straps and restrictive setups can get in the way of functional movement at meals—and when kids are developmentally ready for more freedom in their seat.

    3. Why a truly adjustable footrest matters for stability and torso control, supporting an upright “ready-to-eat” posture from your baby’s first bites.
