Set at an upscale golf country club outside Manila, the film explores inequality, colonialism, structural violence and patriarchy. Filipiñana premiered at Sundance, where it won the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award for Creative Vision. It opens in New York at Film Forum on Friday.
