Episode Notes:
Today’s episode is titled “How to Respond to a Rebuke.”
 In our last episode, Jehoshaphat made a dangerous alliance with Ahab. We saw how he listened to the wrong voices, followed the wrong counsel, and how he nearly lost his life because of it.
Now, in chapter 19, he returns home, and then God sends a prophet to rebuke him.
 What Jehoshaphat does next is one of the most beautiful moments in his life. He doesn’t try to defend himself. He does not justify his actions, and thankfully he doesn’t imprison the prophet, as we sadly saw Ahab do yesterday. Instead, he responds with humility. He receives the rebuke, he corrects his course, and he leads the nation into deeper obedience.
 This is why I believe that today’s chapter 19 teaches us something every believer needs to learn:
 How to respond when God confronts us.
How to respond when we are corrected.
How to respond when we are rebuked.
 So, let’s explore how to respond to a rebuke….

Today episode is titled “The Danger of False Preachers.”  And that title, I believe, captures the central warning of 2 Chronicles 18.  
In our last episode, we saw Jehoshaphat at his best. He was balanced, wise, faithful, obedient, strengthening the nation spiritually and practically. But now, in chapter 18, we see Jehoshaphat at his most vulnerable.
 He forms a dangerous alliance with Ahab, the wicked king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, and surrounds himself with false prophets who tell him exactly what he wants to hear. He also ignores the one true prophet who speaks the word of the Lord, and he walks straight into a battle he should never have entered.
 Chapter 18 is an important reminder that not everyone who claims to speak for God actually does, and not every preacher is trustworthy. Not every prophet is faithful, and not every voice that sounds spiritual is true.
 Today, I hope we will discover the danger of being seduced by false voices, and what happens when a Godly person listens to the wrong preachers, teachers, prophets or even influencers…..

I’ve always admired people who seemed to live balanced lives — people who developed both their minds and their bodies, who cultivated both discipline and joy, who lived with both conviction and compassion. But for a long time, I never preached a sermon on balance, because I didn’t see that concept explicitly taught in Scripture.
In this book, one of the kings is described by more than one commentator as balanced. His life gives us a practical, biblical example of what balance looks like, and how we can cultivate it ourselves. That king is Jehoshaphat.
 He is a king who strengthens the nation militarily, but also spiritually. 
He builds fortifications but also sends out teachers of the law.
He expands Judah’s influence but also deepens Judah’s devotion.
He is active, but he is prayerful.
He is courageous, but he is humble.
He is strategic, but he is dependent on God.
 Jehoshaphat shows us what it looks like to live a life that is not lopsided and not spiritually thin, not spiritually frantic, not spiritually inconsistent, but balanced. So today, we’re going to explore 2 Chronicles 17 and discover how Jehoshaphat cultivated balance in his life and leadership — and how we can do the same….

We all know believers who started well and ended poorly. Men and women who were once zealous for the Lord, who influenced others, who walked faithfully, but who, later in life, drifted, weakened, or stopped trusting God as they once did.
 Apparently, the Lord thinks we need to be reminded of that truth because He repeatedly records stories of people who began well but finished badly. The Bible is full of them: Saul, Solomon, Joash, and Amaziah, to name a few.
 And now, in 2 Chronicles 16, we meet another: King Asa. Asa began well. He trusted the Lord, and he led the nation into covenant renewal. But later in his life, something changed. He stopped trusting the Lord, and he relied on human strategy instead of divine strength. He hardened his heart against God’s Word, and he even refused to seek the Lord when he became ill.
 His story stands as a warning and an invitation to every believer: remember that a good beginning does not guarantee a good ending. Faithfulness yesterday does not replace faithfulness today, and you cannot rest on your laurels.

Today’s episode is titled “A Strategy for Renewal.”  And that title, I think, captures the heartbeat of 2 Chronicles 15. This is a chapter that shows us how God renews His people, not by accident, not by emotion, not through crisis, although he can and does all of those things. But instead through a clear, God‑given strategy.
Renewal is not just for moments of desperation; it can happen in moments of calm. Renewal is also for the seasons of blessing and can be part of the everyday rhythm of life.
 Chapter 15 will also teach us that renewal begins with listening to God’s Word and continues by seeking God wholeheartedly, but renewal requires courageous obedience, and renewal is sustained by perseverance, not emotion.
 It is a chapter about how God rebuilds a life, how He restores a nation, and how He strengthens His people for the long haul. And it can speak directly into our lives today, because every believer needs renewal. Not just once, and not just in crisis, but again and again, in good times and bad.
 It is a chapter about consistency, perseverance, and wholehearted devotion, themes that again run straight into the New Testament, where Jesus calls us to abide in Him, and where Paul urges us to continue steadfastly in the grace of God.
