When we talk to Birgit Schulz, Rosa Friedrich, Daniela Magnani-Hüller and many more about all things Documentary Film.

We talked to producer Jonas Dorbach about meeting Janine (& Maren) on the dancefloor, a first foray into filmmaking via so-bad-they’re-good music videos, his super 8 road movie, his “not humble enough” application at the Munich film school, why good stories need an unknown element and why there is no such thing as “the” truth. It was a pleasure - Enjoy!

Jella Haase is an actress who genuinely lights up a conversation, and this interview with her proved exactly that. We talked about her inherent Spieltrieb, why she loves her job, and how she finds the drama in comedy and the comedy in drama. We also discuss how her new movie Gentle Monster holds up a mirror to the dark side of humanity. Plus, an idea for a movie about punk and Nina Hagen gets put out into the universe. Enjoy!

Director Hannu Salonen has three projects coming out this fall. He talked to us about why he considers himself a craftsman and a storyteller first rather than a filmmaker. We discussed his interest in exploring the human condition, the advantage of having tunnel vision on big productions – and blowing the socks off the audience through visuals on Adam’s Eight/Rome Eight (in German Cinemas 17.09.2026) or the playfulness of Vienna Game. And above all – he brought his exuberant joy to our conversation. It was a pleasure - Enjoy!

We talked to terrific director Veronika Kaserer about her new documentary Simon Messner – Aus dem Schatten, about her quest of tackling taboos and digging deep in documentary filmmaking, looking for the universal topic in her documentaries and why specifically she enjoys the moment all the plans come crashing down while on set. Enjoy!
