What does it actually take to wake a man up? For Warrick Bidwell, it took a cardiac arrest on a mountain bike trail, 10 days in a coma, multiple strokes, a brain bleed, sepsis, and 19 days in hospital. The kicker? He was fit, strong, a non-drinker, a non-smoker, and his specialists believe it was chronic stress, not heart disease, that nearly ended his life at 51.
On this episode we covered:
The one thing the medical team said caused his cardiac arrest (and it wasn't what you'd expect from a CrossFitter who cold plunged regularly)
What it felt like to wake up unable to speak, paralysed on one side
The near death spiritual experiences Warrick had while unconscious
Why he believes chronic disease, stress and disconnection from values manifest as physical illness
What most men get wrong about stress, leadership and what their families actually want from them
The question he now asks himself before every decision that has completely changed how he lives
