The Porch

The love of money is the root of all evil, yet we're called to faithfully steward our God-given resources—so how do we navigate the tension? This week, Tyler Moffett walks us through 1 Timothy 6 to remind us that our finances may change, but the Lord we serve never will.

We've rebranded self-obsession as self-care, and it's not working. This week, Tyler Moffett continues our "Lovers" series in 2 Timothy 3, warning us against becoming "lovers of self" and reminding us that God's perfect love allows us to fix our eyes on the One who deserves our attention.

Golden calves might be hard to find nowadays, but the sentiment remains; We were made to worship, and we often worship people and things other than God. This week, Kylen Perry walks us through Exodus 32 to identify why we choose idols, how God responds to it, and how, because of Christ, we can move forward when we mess up.

When we hear the gospel, it demands a response. This week, guest speaker Sam Gibson, the director of Pray.NYC and executive pastor of the Church of the City New York, walks us through Joel 2 to remind us of what life in Christ truly looks like.

We often try to make God into a grandfatherly figure who is more of a "pal" than a Savior. We're told that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom — and in our final session, Matt Chandler walked us through exactly what this kind of reverence looks like in our life with Christ.
