Connecting the Dots: The Disappearance of Morgan Nick

    19.09.2026 | 46 Min.
On the evening of June 9, 1995, a little league baseball game in Alma, Arkansas, provided the perfect cover for a predator. In the short time it took to catch fireflies with friends, six-year-old Morgan Nick vanished from the parking lot. What followed was a 29-year nightmare for her family, decades of missed clues, and a relentless hunt for justice that finally resulted in a massive forensic DNA breakthrough in 2024.

In this episode, we explore the timeline of Morgan's disappearance and the dangerous predators operating during the 1990s. We discuss Billy Jack Lincks’ attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl just miles away, the abduction of 9-year-old Amber Hagerman in Texas, and the terrifying reign of the "River Valley Killer," Charles Ray Vines, who was linked to at least two murders: Juanita Wofford and Ruth Pearl Henderson, and, according to later DNA testing results, 19-year-old Melissa Witt.

We also honor the incredible advocacy of 6-year-old Morgan Nick’s mother, Colleen Nick. Refusing to let her daughter’s case fade, Colleen turned her unimaginable grief into action. We cover how her relentless push for systemic change helped establish the Morgan Nick AMBER Alert in Arkansas, and we break down how rapid-response safety networks like CART (Child Abduction Response Team) and CARD (Child Abduction Rapid Deployment) operate today.

The case threatens to go cold until a neighbor’s 911 call about a fleeing black Chevy Impala leads detectives to a web of digital evidence.
