Doomed to Repeat, Ep. 34 - "What Lies Below Innsmouth" | Delta Green
Having narrowly escaped the clutches of Innsmouth’s ever-vigilant law enforcement, our intrepid investigators seek refuge in the salt-bitten village of Falcon Point—a place where the coffee is black, the rum is questionably legal, and the fishermen gaze into the horizon like men who’ve seen too much… and lived to regret it. It is here, amidst card games and cryptic tales, that a new lead emerges. The night before, Freddy was able to confirm the existence of a series of sea caves in the northern cliffs. Smugglers once used them, or so they say.. With a borrowed longboat and more optimism than sense, the team sets off into the mist in search of the sea caves. What they find is far worse than the comforting rattle of contraband bottles. Runes that glow in an ancient language. Tunnels that echo with the sound of human moaning. Something ancient and hungry moves beneath the waterline. They were searching for proof. What they uncovered was a problem better left unsolved. The time for secondhand stories is over. With their leads running dry, the investigators finally set foot in Innsmouth—a rotting harbor town swaddled in fog and legends. What begins as a cursory stroll in their sedan soon twists into something far more unsettling. At a crumbling flophouse, they trace the last known movements of Kennedy’s old shipmate, Zadok Allen. A suspiciously timed flat tire strands them there just long enough for Dr. Rooke to cross paths with Constable Birch—a man with eyes too wide and lips too flat to be entirely human. Then, led by a town drunk named Bilaki, who swears he knows Zadok, the team finally stops at The Garden Bar & Grill. Here, Freddy follows whispers of hidden tunnels beneath the streets. But something in the air is wrong—like the town itself is watching. Whether they leave on foot, by car, or at all, Innsmouth will not let them go unchanged. His haunted recollections deepen the mystery, confirming something ancient and malignant. Later, the team seeks answers from George Cole, a volatile psych patient who was once a citizen of Innsmouth. Cora takes the lead, attempting to soothe the savage man and unlock the secrets buried in his fractured mind.
