Favorite Shows: Give Me Away
Hi everyone, Kris here. While we’re busy building the second to last episode of Dirt, which we expect to release the first or second week of October, I want to take a moment to recommend a terrific show that I’m
personally caught up with and enjoying called Give Me Away.
Give Me Away is a science-fiction thriller from the writer of The Message, Life After, and Steal the Stars, three great shows that I also enjoy and have binged, and you should too.
Give Me Away centers on Graham Shapiro, a middle-aged man whose kids have moved on and whose marriage is falling apart right at the moment that an alien spaceship, called the Ghosthouse, lands in the Nevada desert.
It turns out that the Ghosthouse is a prison ship from another world that houses thousands of aliens who are stored as digital entities. And the only way for them to be freed from their prison is for humans to extract them and put them into their own brains—basically as body roommates.
Struggling to find a new purpose in life, Graham signs up, kickstarting a wild family adventure that is funny, intense, intimate, and current, mirroring in so many ways the complicated times we live in.
The writing, acting, and sound design in Give Me Away are superb, with twists and turns that will make you want to binge the first two seasons and get fully caught up with the third season, which is currently in release.
The show is available at all the usual podcast places, as well as right here right now. Here comes Season 1, Episode 5: My Body Is Your Body.
